Daniel Roberts, an Environmental Specialist with the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority and Steering Committee member of the Florida Water & Climate Alliance, has been selected to participate in the Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute (NRLI) Class 22. He was awarded a partial scholarship from the University of Florida Water Institute to participate.
Daniel says NRLI will allow him to “learn effective leadership skills and strategies in changing environments with a diverse group of professionals. With the resources and tools gained at NRLI, I hope to be able to lead my organization and the projects I’m involved with to solve complex water resource planning, water quality, and water quantity issues into the future.”
The NRLI curriculum focuses on skills, tools, and strategies to build trust and promote collaboration among diverging interests to solve natural resource-related issues. The program seeks to impact decision making in Florida by creating a network of professionals who can effectively address issues through collaborative leadership and conflict management. Several members of the FloridaWCA are NRLI alumni, who utilize their NRLI skills of collaboration, two-way learning, communication and networking to strengthen the FloridaWCA scientist-stakeholder partnership and increase climate resilience in Florida.
In his current work with Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority, Daniel manages the planning, design, construction, and repair of environmental projects; monitors hydrologic and environmental compliance and permits; and coordinates project activities with contractors, local government representatives, and state regulatory and environmental agencies.
